In September of 2018, Cantabile begins its 23rd season of excellence in choral education and performance. Cantabile is a vibrant, award-winning choral programme that provides musical education to choristers and audiences through the regular performance of high-quality choral literature, and through touring and recording projects.

The Choirs have won a number of distinctions at local, provincial and national levels including the Mathieson Trophy for the Girls’ Choir, (Ontario and National Music Festivals), the City of Lincoln Trophy for the Youth Singers, (Ontario Festivals Finals), and the Cooke Trophy for the Madrigal Singers, (Ontario Festivals Finals). The Women’s Chorus was a semi-finalist in the 2008 CBC Choral Competition. Cantabile also won a Lieutenant-Governor Award for the Arts. This spring Cantabile was recently awarded “Outstanding Choral Event” in the country by the Association of Canadian Choral Communities at its biennial convention in Saskatoon. The opening concert of our 2009-10 season, “Brown Eagle, Black Raven” was recognized for its adventurous programming and its theme that honoured aboriginal cultures of the world especially Canada’s First Nations.
