OUR PROGRAMS

DID YOU KNOW? Cantabile is one of the largest choral organizations in the country. We’re proud to offer a wide variety of programs for almost all ages, with a robust bursary program to help out families in need.

PICCOLO

(Ages 6-7) Piccolo is an introductory music program that guides young children through the fundamentals of music and singing. This program focuses on active engagements and multi-sensory creative activities.

MEDIO

(Ages 8-9) Medio is a preparatory program that continues to build musical and vocal skills while introducing children to a number of performance opportunities and local outreach activities.

GRANDE

(Ages 10-12) Grande is an advanced children’s choir that maintains an active performing schedule throughout the year. Singers are introduced to the thrill of live performance, while receiving high-quality instruction.

LUMINOSO

(Soprano/Alto, ages 13-17) Luminoso is an advanced youth ensemble. The award-winning choir maintains an active performance schedule throughout the season, competes in the annual music festival, and (in normal years) offers opportunities for travel both nationally and internationally!

VIVACE

(Tenor/Bass, ages 13-17) Vivace is an advanced tenor/bass ensemble for youth. Like Luminoso, the choir has been recognized provincially and nationally for its vocal excellence. The choir maintains an active performance schedule, competes in the annual music festival, and (in normal years) offers opportunities for travel both nationally and internationally! Vivace often combines with Luminoso to form an SATB ensemble.

CORO PROFONDO

(Tenor/Bass, adults) Coro Profondo is an advanced tenor/bass ensemble for adults. The choir maintains an active performance schedule throughout the season, and (in normal years) offers opportunities for travel both nationally and internationally. Coro Profondo often combines with Coro Spirito to form an SATB ensemble.

CORO SPIRITO

(Soprano/Alto, adults) Coro Spirito is an advanced soprano/alto ensemble for adults. The choir maintains an active performance schedule throughout the season, and (in normal years) offers opportunities for travel both nationally and internationally. Coro Profondo often combines with Coro Spirito to form an SATB ensemble.

FINANCIAL AID

We understand that this is a difficult time for many people. It is our goal to make the performing arts accessible, and we are proud to provide financial assistance to those in need.

That’s why we’re excited to announce that we have up to $20,0000 in bursary funds available to help support singers in financial need. These bursaries are made possible through the generosity of the Sisters of Providence of St. Vincent de Paul.

COVID-19 SAFETY PLAN

Cantabile has developed a full COVID-19 safety plan that details the steps we’re taking to keep our singers safe. Here’s a brief summary:
  1. All rehearsals resume in person (with options for online attendance via Zoom)
  2. Everyone wears face coverings (with some exceptions for conductors, when necessary for instruction)
  3. Everyone physically distanced, when possible (a number of our larger groups will rehearse in the Performance Hall to accommodate physical distancing requirements)
  4. Exceptions for young children. Some exceptions to physical distancing will be permitted for our younger programs. That’s because movement and active group engagement are essential to early music education.
  5. Prepared for change. We all know that things can change quickly. We have contingency plans in place to adapt with minimal disruption to our learning and performing goals.

CONCERTS

This year, Cantabile will return to a full season of concert productions. We have a lot exciting performance opportunities in store… but, we’re not quite ready to tell everyone. As you know, a lot can change between now and then.

For now, here’s what you need to know:

  • We’re back to full concert productions, masked but without physical distancing.
  • If we can have an audience, we will!
  • If not, we’ll create a video production of our performance, which will be broadcast online.
